Why do we spend time thinking about what poeple think about us, when God's opinion is high enough?

Truth: I am God’s child. I belong to Him.
Fact: I have brown hair, I am really short, I have boring eyes, and braces.
The Difference: One counts for everything, and the other is worthless.
Okay. In this world appearance seems to matter. That I may never understand, but it just does. It’s like, if you don’t shop at Abercrombie and Fitch or you don’t style your hair the way everyone else does, you just aren’t good enough.
I think we rely on that acceptance to say we are good enough. I know sometimes I do. So where does it stop? Were do we realize that what the girl next door or even our best friends think don’t make us who we are by what they say?
But honestly, it’s not all of them. If we choose to accept what they say, then the fault is on us too, because then we are guilty of letting them bring us down.
We all do it. When does God get a say in it then? He already said we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” so why does this world have to be our critics?
Ultimately, the knowledge that I am too short isn’t going to help me discover the truth. And the truth is; what I look like doesn’t matter. It is the inside that counts for something. It’s my heart that can either shine for God’s glory, or sit around puzzling over why my body doesn’t look like Jessica Simpson’s or why I am not as beautiful as Cameron Diaz.
Life is what we make it, and personally, I don’t have time to think that I don’t have what every “normal” person does. I know we all think that sometimes. Yes, it’s nice to know that people think we are pretty--handsome if you are a guy--and mean something to this empty world.
But what is it going to get us? Disappointment when our needs of reassurance aren’t met. What then?
We have to turn to the truth.
And that truth is that God loves us, just the way we are. That, honestly, the fact that I wear braces doesn’t matter to Him. All he sees when He looks at us is perfection.
